You will take charge of a well-established team and drive impactful changes in the way documentation supports engineering teams.
This company designs and manufactures bleeding-edge technology, which involves a mixture of electro-mechanical systems, software and hardware elements. Therefore, you will need to come from a high-tech engineering background.
The Role
This is a unique opportunity to lead the technical publications function within a high-tech engineering company with a global presence. The company’s technical manuals have been in use for over 20 years and hold a strong legacy worldwide. As the leader of this function, you’ll have the chance to modernise and reshape documentation processes, ensuring they continue to meet the evolving needs of engineers and customers.
While 80% of manuals are already in place, your expertise will be instrumental in problem-solving, process improvement, and driving efficiency across the business. You’ll work closely with engineers and senior leaders to enhance content quality and create a lasting impact on a large, innovative organisation.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and mentor a team of technical writers, fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to enhance documentation processes.
Improve content management strategies – experience with CMS tools (e.g., Author-it or similar) is essential. - Utilise Microsoft Office expertise to manage documentation workflows effectively.
Drive improvements that will help streamline processes for engineers across the business.
- A Degree/Qualification in Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- A strong leader with a problem-solving mindset and experience in a managerial or senior technical writing role.
- A background in technical documentation and content management systems.
